Whether you are trying to gain weight or lose it, you need to split up your meals in 5-6 small meals rather than 3 large meals.
Some amount of protein is mandatory in every meal.For eggetarians egg is the best source of protein.For purely vegetarians go for whey protein powder.Try to get the natural whey protein supplement devoid of any artificial colors or sweeteners. I prefer Optimum Nutrition Natural Whey Protein.Don't even think of using any steroids or any any unnatural supplements.Believe me you can have the physique of your dreams by using all natural stuff and utilizing the gym more effectively.
Your diet should be a combination protein,carbs and fats.Remember that all fats are not bad.People tend to avoid fat altogether when they are cutting down. Avoid saturated fats but unsaturated/poly saturated fats occurring in fish or olive oils or dry fruits should be a part of your diet.
You can follow the simple natural diet plans i have put together for vegetarians and non vegetarians.


Keep in mind the below rules when it comes to diet. I am skipping the obvious rules like carbonated sweetened drinks like coke and cigarettes injurious to health and fruits and green leafy vegetables are good etc--
1. Never Skip Breakfast.Remember breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be the best meal of the day.You can not afford to miss it.

2. All fats are not bad. Make unsalted almonds,olive oils, fish a part of your diet.Avoid other oils and fried snacks.
3. Avoid too much salt and sugars. Keep in mind that some seasonal fruits have lots of sugars.Don't overdo with seasonal fruits especially mangoes.I know that's harsh but excess of even certain fruits is harmful.Enjoy such fruits in moderation.
Similarly avoid salted snacks.
4. Avoid bottled/packaged fruit juices. Rather go for fresh fruits.
5. Reduce your caffeine intake. You don't need a mug of coffee every hour.
6. Cheat day- Too many restrictions..Don't worry..Every week you can keep a day where you can enjoy your dearest food pizza or ice creams or pakodas :)...This is called a "cheat day" in a fitness freak's dictionary. Treat this day as a gift for your hard work throughout the week and enjoy your food. But remember not have more than 1 cheat day every week :)..
7. Most importantly have lots and lots of water. Try to have at least one 500 ml glass of water every hour.

So get set now and refer the sample diet plans i have put in here.You can follow them as it is or create your own diet plans based on it as per your needs. Just remember the above mentioned points in your diet.
